Cinematic family photography for people who want photos that actually feel like their family

Your family doesn't have to sit still, smile on command, and look at the camera for an hour to get beautiful photographs.

I'm a family photographer based in Fredericksburg, Virginia, creating cinematic, emotive photographs for families who want something a little more personal, playful, and true to who they are. Whether you have a brand-new baby, a wild toddler, a bunch of big kids, or everyone is somewhere in between, I'm here for it.

My sessions are built around movement, connection, and the little things that make your family yours. I'll give you direction throughout your session, but I won't expect your kids to sit perfectly still or smile on cue. We'll walk, play, snuggle, run around, talk, laugh, and let them be themselves.

You don't have to be naturally comfortable in front of a camera. Most people aren't, and your kids definitely don't need to be.

Instead of asking everyone to pose and hold a smile, I'll give you prompts and activities that give your family something to actually do together. Sometimes that means running through a field. Sometimes it's picking up your kid and spinning them around. Sometimes it's simply sitting together while your kids do whatever weird little thing they're currently obsessed with.

The goal is photographs that feel lived-in and honest, with a cinematic quality that makes them feel like memories rather than posed portraits.

Family Sessions in Fredericksburg, Virginia

I photograph families throughout Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Caroline County, and surrounding areas. We can choose a location based on the feeling you want your photographs to have, whether that's tall grass and open fields, wooded trails, historic architecture, or somewhere your kids can actually run around.

You don't need a special occasion to document your family. Sometimes you just want to remember what this particular version of your family looked like.

What to Expect

Before your session, we'll talk through the location, outfits, timing, and the overall feel you're looking for. I'll help you figure out what will photograph well while keeping things comfortable for your family.

During your session, I'll guide you from beginning to end. You don't need to know how to pose, and your kids don't need to behave perfectly. In fact, I'd much rather photograph who they actually are.

Afterward, I'll carefully edit your photographs to fit the cinematic style you see throughout my work and deliver your finished gallery within 2 weeks.
